These are some of the basic questions people consider when beginning to think about their locks.

Q. Do I need a new lock or should I re-key ?

      A. This is debatable, there are many factors that go into consideration to this answer . The best              answer in this case would be to call us for an evaluation. We'll have a few specific questions              for you. One tip for preparing for your telephone call is to have one of the keys in your hand or              find out what the key says on it including stamped number even if there is no brand name like              Schlage, Yale, or Kwikset on it.

Q. What is a cylinder ?

       A. Any place the key fits into a lock

Q. What kind of lock do I need?

       A. This is a personal preference type question really and what you should be considering is if you             need a Standard lock or a High Security type of lock? You need a High Security Lock if....:

        (1)  You don't want copies of your keys being duplicateable without your consent.

        (2)  You need your locks to be drill,tamper and/or pick resistant.

        (3)   Strength of lock

Q. What is a Door Jam problem, how do I know it's not a Lock problem and what happens to my              locks?

      A. When the house settles the doorway can become uneven and the strike zone of your door jam           can lower itself to where the strike has to be forced and/or it feels stiff when locking your door.           This can severely damage the lock and cause you to have to replace the locks.
